When to use the golden hammer: Thinking about the trade-offs around using machine learning in evolving systems
Mon 17 Aug 2020 23:30 - 23:55 at ACSOS In Practice Meeting Room - Session 3 Chair(s): K R Jayaram, Christopher Stewart
Deniz Altinbuken is a Software Engineer in the Technical Infrastructure team at Google. She completed her Ph.D. at Cornell University focusing on building large-scale, evolving distributed systems. In her work, she first focuses on understanding and defining the bits and pieces of what makes complicated systems work. Once a strong theoretical basis is established, she designs and implements systems that balance simplicity, maintainability, scalability, reliability, performance, and strong features.
